Setting: I believe that the setting of this book is between the late1800ââ¬â¢s and early 1900ââ¬â¢s in England. This is important because it influences the way they dress and the way they speak. I donââ¬â¢t think this story could take place anywhere else because the way they dressed and spoke isnââ¬â¢t very common in many places. Also, the way the places are described in the book, making it sound like England. The book says that Pip moved to the wonderful London. Another setting in the book was Miss Havishamââ¬â¢s house. At Miss Havishams house Pip and Estella play cards when he stays there. At her house Miss Havisham has a room full of bugs and old food from her wedding. Another Setting in the book is his warm house. This setting is important because itââ¬â¢s where his adopted family lives and it is really close to him. His house is out in the middle of nowhere near a cemetery. His house is also the blacksmith shop. He lives with his mean sister and her nice husband, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gargery. City CITES ( the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora ) is an international understanding between authoritiess. Its purpose is to guarantee that international trade in specimens of wild animate beings and workss does non endanger their endurance. Widespread information presents about the endangered position of many outstanding species, such as the tiger and elephants, might do the demand for such a convention seem obvious. But at the clip when the thoughts for CITES were foremost formed, in the 1960s, international treatment of the ordinance of wildlife trade for preservation intents was something comparatively new. With hindsight, the demand for CITES is clear. Annually, international wildlife trade is estimated to be deserving one million millions of dollars and to include 100s of 1000000s of works and animate being specimens. The trade is diverse, runing from unrecorded animate beings and workss to a huge array of wildlife merchandises derived from them, including nutrient merchandises, alien leather goods, wooden musical instruments, lumber, tourer oddities and medical specialties. Degrees of development of some animate being and works species are high and the trade in them, together with other factors, such as habitat lo ss, is capable of to a great extent consuming their populations and even conveying some species near to extinction. Many wildlife species in trade are non endangered, but the being of an understanding to guarantee the sustainability of the trade is of import in order to safeguard these resources for the hereafter. Because the trade in wild animate beings and workss crosses boundary lines between states, the attempt to modulate it requires international cooperation to safeguard certain species from over-exploitation. CITES was conceived in the spirit of such cooperation. Today, it accords changing grades of protection to more than 30,000 species of animate beings and workss, whether they are traded as unrecorded specimens, fur coats or dried herbs. CITES was drafted as a consequence of a declaration adopted in 1963 at a meeting of members of IUCN ( The World Conservation Union ) . The text of the Convention was eventually agreed at a meeting of representatives of 80 states in Washington DC. , United States of America, on 3 March 1973, and on 1 July 1975 CITES entered in force. Environmental Statements are frequently prearranged in a manner that illustrates the environmental baseline, betterment and effects for each type of environmental receptors such as ecology, archeological resources, H2O resources, human existences etc. Contaminated land is frequently managed in the same ways as a assortment of environmental receptor groups, although it is chiefly a cause of impacts instead than a receptor. New tracts linking preexistent taint with a current receptor can be formed, for case when stacking throughout a non-permeable bed linking a bed of contaminated dirts with a deep aquifer. And the 2nd component presently considered is the structured attack of an environmental statement. The oil taint of the tellurian ecosystems reached degrees on an unprecedented graduated table in the history of the planet. The impacts on the environment will take decennaries to partly vanish and their full effects may neââ¬â¢er be realized. The oil taint of the sea has had less serious impacts in the Kuwaiti Marine environment, and the natural recovery has improved the state of affairs over clip. Presently, the coral reefs appear healthy and the measure of runt harvested each twelvemonth is similar to the 1s recorded before the war. Sardanapalus monologue from the play by Lord Byron Essay A monologue from the play by Lord Byron NOTE: This monologue is reprinted from Lord Byron: Six Plays. Lord Byron. Los Angeles: Black Box Press, 2007. SARDANAPALUS: I saw, that is, I dreamed myself Hereââ¬âhereââ¬âeven where we are, guests as we were, Myself a host that deemed himself but guest, Willing to equal all in social freedom; But, on my right hand and my left, instead Of thee and Zames, and our customed meeting, Was ranged on my left hand a haughty, dark, And deadly face; I could not recognise it, Yet I had seen it, though I knew not where: The features were a giant\s, and the eye Was still, yet lighted; his long locks curled down On his vast bust, whence a huge quiver rose With shaft-heads feathered from the eagle\s wing, That peeped up bristling through his serpent hair. I invited him to fill the cup which stood Between us, but he answered not; I filled it; He took it not, but stared upon me, till I trembled at the fixed glare of his eye: I frowned upon him as a king should frown; He frowned not in his turn, but looked upon me With the same aspect, which appalled me more, Because it changed not; and I turned for refuge To milder guests, and sought them on the right, Where thou wert wont to be. Butââ¬â In thy own chairââ¬âthy own place in the banquetââ¬â I sought thy sweet face in the circleââ¬âbut Insteadââ¬âa grey-haired, withered, bloody-eyed, And bloody-handed, ghastly, ghostly thing, Female in garb, and crowned upon the brow, Furrowed with years, yet sneering with the passion Of vengeance, leering too with that of lust, Sateââ¬âmy veins curdled! Upon Her right handââ¬âher lank, bird-like, right handââ¬âstood A goblet, bubbling o\er with blood; and on Her left, another, filled withââ¬âwhat I saw not, But turned from it and her. But all along The table sate a range of crowned wretches, Of various aspects, but of one expression. It was so palpable, I could have touched them. I turned from one face to another, in The hope to find at last one which I knew Ere I saw theirs: but noââ¬âall turned upon me, And stared, but neither ate nor drank, but stared, Till I grew stone, as they seemed half to be, Yet breathing stone, for I felt life in them, And life in me: there was a horrid kind Of sympathy between us, as if they Had lost a part of death to come to me, And I the half of life to sit by them. We were in an existence all apart From heaven or earthââ¬âAnd rather let me see Death all than such a being! At last I sate, marble, as they, when rose The Hunter and the Crone; and smiling on meââ¬â Yes, the enlarged but noble aspect of The Hunter smiled upon meââ¬âI should say, His lips, for his eyes moved notââ¬âand the woman\s Thin lips relaxed to something like a smile. Both rose, and the crowned figures on each hand Rose also, as if aping their chief shadesââ¬â Mere mimics even in deathââ¬âbut I sate still: A desperate courage crept through every limb, And at the last I feared them not, but laughed Full in their phantom faces. But thenââ¬âthen The Hunter laid his hand on mine: I took it, And grasped itââ¬âbut it melted from my own; While he too vanished, and left nothing but The memory of a hero, for he looked so. Aye, Myrrha, but the woman, The female who remained, she flew upon me, And burnt my lips up with her noisome kisses; And, flinging down the goblets on each hand, Methought their poisons flowed around us, till Each formed a hideous river. Still she clung; The other phantoms, like a row of statues, Stood dull as in our temples, but she still Embraced me, while I shrunk from her, as if, In lieu of her remote descendant, I Had been the son who slew her for her incest. Thenââ¬âthenââ¬âa chaos of all loathsome things Thronged thick and shapeless: I was dead, yet feelingââ¬â Buried, and raised againââ¬âconsumed by worms, Purged by the flames, and withered in the air! I can fix nothing further of my thoughts, Save that I longed for thee, and sought for thee, In all these agoniesââ¬âand woke and found thee. .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f , .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f .postImageUrl , .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f , .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f:hover , .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f:visited , .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f:active { border:0!important; } .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f:active , .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u38c98b524fc4497d03220592c4e5111f:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Romeo and Juliet - how Juliet develops through the play Essay

Free Essays on Email At The Office
Email at the Office Electronic mail, known to everyone as email, is ââ¬Å"the technology of sending and receiving electronic messages over phone lines by computerâ⬠(Marty Foley). Any person, who has access to the Internet has email. An estimated twenty to sixty million people have Internet access, and the numbers drastically increase yearly. It is the fastest growing way of communication of this day. As more people begin using email, as well as companies who are becoming technologically inclined, they are beginning to discover the great advantages of it. But, with these advantages also come a few drawbacks. Many companies are beginning to use this as their main form of communication with other companies, but some seem to forget that email is an electronic letter, and they do not realize the need for etiquette. Kaitlin Duck Sherwood best explains the qualities email possesses; ââ¬Å"email is cheaper and faster than a letter, less intrusive than a phone call, less hassle than a FAX.â⬠She also makes a good point that with the use of email, there is no longer a time zone and location issue when trying to notify someone. She believes that email has great capabilities because of its speed and broadcasting ability. Also, because email has such a fast turnaround time, it is much more conversational than the average letter. Though, because of the fast turnaround time compared to a letter, email tends to be sloppier. This has to do with the fact that people are able to respond so quickly and ask questions on anything that seems confusing. The sloppiness of email can be very acceptable in some businesses, but not at all in others. It really depends on the type of organization, its atmosphere, and especially to whom you are writing the email. It is acceptable to write unprofessionally to another coworker, if you are asking them when they want to meet up for lunch, but if you are writing to your boss about a business related to... The Causes and Dangers of Yellow Snow
The Causes and Dangers of Yellow Snow Yellow snow is the topic of many a winter joke. Since snow in its purest form is white, yellow snow is said to be colored with yellow liquids, like animal urine. But while animal (and human)à markingsà can indeed turnà snow yellow, theseà arent the only cause of yellow snow. Pollen and air pollution can also lead to largeà areas of snow cover that looks like lemonade. Here are the ways snow can acquire a golden hue. Blanketed in Spring Pollen One harmless reason for yellow-tinted snow is pollen. Common in spring snows when flowering trees are already in bloom, pollen can settle in the air and on snow-covered surfaces,à marring the white color of snow. If youve ever witnessed your car covered in a thick coat of yellowish-green mid-April, then you know how thick a coating of pollen can be. Its the same with spring snows. If a large enough tree is overhead above a snow bank, the golden appearance of the snow can be spread over a large area. The pollen may be harmlessà unless you happen to be allergic to it. Pollution or Sand Snow can also fall from the sky with a yellow color. Yellow snow is real. You may think snow is white, but other colors of snow exist including black, red, blue, brown, and even orange snow.à Yellow snow can be caused by air pollutionà as certain pollutants in the air can give snow a yellowish tinge. Air pollutants will migrate towards the poles and become incorporated into the snow as a thin film. As sunlight hits the snow, a yellow hue can appear. When snow contains particles of sand or other cloud seeds, it can be a source of yellow or golden snow. When this occurs,à the color of the condensation nuclei can actually tint the ice crystals yellow even as it falls through the sky. One example was in South Korea when snow fell in March of 2006 with a yellow tint. The cause of the yellow snow was an increased amount of sand in the snow from the deserts of Northern China. NASAs Aura satellite captured the event as weather officials warned the public of the hazards contained within the snow. Yellow dust storm warnings are popular in South Korea, but yellow snow is rarer. Yellow snows often cause concern that they come from industrial waste. An intense yellow snow fell in areas of the Russian Urals region in March 2008. Residents worried that it came from industrial or construction sites and preliminary reports said it was high in manganese, nickel, iron, chrome, zinc, copper, lead, and cadmium. However, the analysis published in Doklady Earth Sciences showed that it was due to dust swept up from the steppes and semidesert of Kazakhstan, Volgograd, and Astrakhan. Dont Eat the Yellow Snow When you see yellow snow, its best to avoid it. Regardless of what caused snow to turn yellow, its always safest to find fresh fallen, white snow whether youll be using it for snowballs, snow angels, or especially snow ice cream.
